Ecological

Everybody talks about ecology.
A good thing.
Go ahead!

And what does it mean to live ecologically? For us, it means living in harmony with the creatures, plants and animals that surround us. Organic farming is not very widespread in Nicaragua and there is still much work to convince the people of the advantage of a life without agricultural chemicals and monocultures. To motivate them to enter into a loving contact with nature.

“Learn to speak with nature, learn to estimate correctly: What does nature offer you? Who learns to observe, will find niches in the production of every sector of agriculture, that will enable them to live from!” Sepp Holzer about permaculture

If we do not quite understand the language of nature, we pay attention to the subtle signals they give us. Plants can not move. They can not sow their seeds carefully, can not surch for nutrients and they can not not pick and choose the best location. But we can do it and so we are doing them a big favor. They thank us with their fruits, roots and leaves, which serve us as food.

At the Oecofinca La Tuani, we want to become experts of a lovely contact with the food plants, keeping the metabolism locally: produce our own compost fertilizer, save and use our own water, use native seeds, protect a forest core and build around an agroforestry garden and use a large part of the products ourselves.

The finca has been lovingly built by the previous owner as a fruit plantation, which we supplement with forest trees in the higher elevations and vegetables and medicinal herbs as ground cover. This agroforestry garden offers year-round through a variety of fruits.
